Manitoba Book Awards (Winnipeg) April 28th, 2013 This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Manitoba Book Awards, and even better, Thunder Road is up for three awards! The event is open to the public, so do come and cheer me on.

Inside Publishing (Winnipeg) May 4th (May the Fourth Be With Us!), 2013 Inside Publishing is a free and open-to-all “glimpse behind the curtain” of the book industry. I’ll be in the 1 pm speaking slot with my publisher, Jamis Paulson of Turnstone Press.

Keycon 30 (Winnipeg) May 17-19, 2013 I’m not an “official” guest, but Keycon is my home convention, and I’ll be there every year, come hell or high water.

Reading at the Evans Theatre (Brandon) June 22nd, 2013. I used to live in Brandon and am very excited to share the stage with three talented Brandon SF&F authors, my friends Shen Braun, Patrick Johanneson, and Craig Russell.

When Words Collide (Calgary) August 9-11, 2013. This will be my third year in a row attending what has fast become one of my favourite events of the year.

Word on the Water (Kenora) October 25-27, 2013. Sadly, scheduling conflicts kept me from attending the last two iterations of this young festival, but happily, I’ve been invited this year as a guest!

Eat, Drink, and be Literary! A Manitoba Writers’ Guild Fundraiser (Winnipeg) Sunday, November 10th, 2013 Prairie Ink Restaurant at McNally Robinson Booksellers. The dinner will include a delicious four-course meal, readings by Manitoba writers, including David Bergen, Chadwick Ginther, Carolyn Gray and Kelly Hughes and some wonderful music to aid in digestion and conversation. Tickets are $45 and available through McNally Robinson and the Manitoba Writers’ Guild.

Pure Speculation (Edmonton) November 16-17, 2013, at the Ramada Conference Centre. Guests of Honour include: Gail Carriger, Arthur Slade, Liana K, and in something very cool–PureSpec has Skype Guests of Honour too–Stephen Hunt and Diana Vick.

McNally Robinson Booksellers (Saskatoon) I’ll be part of a joint book launch including readings and signings from authors E.C. Blake, Sean Cumming and Derryl Murphy.

Horror That Works (Winnipeg) December 6th, 2013, 3-4 pm at ACI Manitoba 400-245 McDermot. I’ll be joined by authors David Annandale and Michael Rowe for an hour of discussion moderated by Maurice Mierau and sponsored by ACI Manitoba and The Manitoba Writers’ Guild.
